About us
Marynka was opened in August 2000 by partners
Catriona Staddon and David Nisbet.
Catriona's approach was to remove the pretentiousness from eating out, and to offer good food in a relaxed and informal environment. David managed the front-of-house and created the interesting and continually evolving wine list. He continues to advise on the wines although he has now moved out of the restaurant to pursue other avenues of interest.
Since opening in August 2000 Marynka has gone from strength to strength. Lee Murdoch and Doug Elliman, two talented and dedicated chefs who joined the team in the early days, have been instrumental in establishing and maintaining what is now our excellent reputation for consistently good fresh food. Lee and Doug work together to create the innovative and frequently changing menu, with some input, mainly on the pudding front, from Catriona. Together with the inspired list of wines chosen by David, and the friendly relaxed service now provided by Catriona, Assistant Manager Cath Corrie and our enthusiastic waiting staff, we have earned many complimentary press reviews. To our great delight we also have an outstanding number of regular and very loyal customers. For us all, there is no greater compliment.
